About
the project.
Making Links 5 is a collaborative project. It aims to offer accessible tools for artisan craft makers by teaching design thinking through making in co-creative, collaborative environments, underpinned by the principles of fair trade. Through the introduction of creative methods for the innovative development of unique craft items for an international market, the approach taken harnesses existing skills, promotes artisanal sharing of knowledge and provides opportunities to learn new skills.
Initial work supported by a Research England, GCRF grant is situated within the glass bead making region of Jombang, East Java, Indonesia. Field work was undertaken by a team of 5 women from the UK, Java and Bali. Find out more through the Gallery Blog and resource section.
